Priyanka Chopra steps into the shoes of Akshay

Have we heard of the stories that Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar are more than just friends? They have severed ties ever since the rumours of their romance broke out, but now Priyanka is stepping into his shoes. Of course it's sheer coincidence. She has replaced him in the television show Khatron Ke Khiladi - Season 3.

“So now I can officially finally tell yall (you all) my secret. I'll be hosting Fear Factor 3 this season!!That's khatron ke khiladi!! I'm tooo excited!” Priyanka posted on her twitter page. “It will have a mix of national and international cricketers as contestants... Suuuuppper fun!!!” she continued.

But why is Akshay Kumar shown the door when he did wonderful job in the first two editions? The reason is that in the latest session will not have 13 beauties as contestants. This time, one lady will host the show with 13 guys competing in it. Priyanka will perform some stunts herself besides hosting it.

Priyanka's seven different husbands

Vishal Bhardwaj is taking all the time in the world to get the casting of Priyanka Chopra's seven husbands right in his film Ek Batta Saat. Vishal wants the seven husbands to look as different as possible.

As reported earlier, Priyanka Chopra plays the protagonist in the film and kills all her seven husbands. A source reveals, “Vishal wants each actor to look different from the other. So far he has finalised Mohanlal, Naseeruddin Shah, John Abraham and Arshad Warsi. As is evident from the casting till now, each actor has a distinctive look - from skin colour, body structure, height, even personality. The script of the film is quite unconventional.”

Adds the source, “Irrfan Khan might be signed to play the fifth husband. During his recent visit to the US, Vishal had zeroed in on a foreigner, who will play one of Priyanka's husbands.”

Ek Batta Saat is written by Vishal and renowned author Ruskin Bond. We hear Vishal liked Bond's short story Susanna's Seven Husbands, which the writer later developed into a film script.

Priyanka throws a fit

A source from the unit reveals, “Manish Malhotra is styling Priyanka, who is shooting for Anjaana Anjaani in the US. She has an extremely glam look in the film. While Priyanka likes the look Manish has given her, she has a lot of issues with the assistant stylist assigned to her by Manish.

Priyanka isn’t happy at all with what the assistant stylist has been coming up with, right from the color combination, the outfit combination, etc. She is finding the combination of colors and clothes given by this stylist very jarring.”

The source continues, “The assistant stylist herself seems petrified by the situation. Since she is a junior person, she can’t even explain herself. Priyanka has complained to Manish and he is now himself helping out with the combinations.

But it is practically impossible for him to reach every location. He has pacified Priyanka and has spoken to the assistant too. But each day passing day is proving more and more difficult for the stylist, because Priyanka seems to have an issue with everything she is giving her to wear.”

While eyewitnesses say that to some extent the stylist must be going wrong with her selections, but Priyanka is also being very rude to her. “The entire crew is in New York and the stylist has no option but to stick on. She can’t just walk out,” adds our source.

The producers have already sent her name the Guinness board.

Shahid Kapoor can do anything for his ladylove Priyanka Chopra and he proved this while promoting his movie Kaminey radio station. Shahid and director Vishal Bhardwaj were at a chat show to talk about Kaminey when the jockey asked about Priyanka's role in the movie to which Shahid replied that it was basically a men's movie and Priyanka was the only women and that too she appeared in the second half.

The jockey then responded in a very raunchy manner and said it must have been very difficult for Priyanka to satisfy all the men alone. Shahid and Vishal could not believe that the jockey could say such a cheap thing and threatened to walk out of the show. After much apologies from the jockey and the producers the recording continued after the original one was deleted. This time around Vishal and Shahid were in no mood for a conversation and quickly left the studio.

The couple has left many wondering after she hosted a special party for him on Thursday at her new residence at Raj Classic, Versova. It was on the pretext of a housewarming party, a celebration which the actress had been postponing for months.

The party which went on until 4 am started sedately but warmed up as the evening progressed. A close friend who was among the select guest list present on Thursday night said, “Of course the party was for Gerard who was completely besotted by Priyanka and kept proposing to her every half hour. It's become a standing joke rather a ‘kneeling’ joke between them. ‘Will you marry me?’ he knelt and said every half hour while she would burst into laughter. She’s clearly not interested on being Mrs Butler.”

Contrary to reports, Butler is not in India to scout for locations for a film. He’s travelling across India with some male friends. “He’s already been to the Taj Mahal and all the other tourist places. He leaves India early next week. Meeting and spending time with Priyanka was definitely a part of Gerard’s plan,” said the friend. “So Priyanka combined the long-postponed housewarming with Gerard’s presence.”

The selected guest list comprised Sussane and Hrithik Roshan, Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Imran Khan and Avantika, Farah Khan and Shrish Kunder, Mahip and Sanjay Kapoor, Meher Jessia and Arjun Rampal, Kangana Ranaut minus Adhyayan, and Farhan Akhtar, who came without his wife, but his friend and business partner Ritesh Sidhwani. Priyanka’s parents were also present at the perky party. Among the absentees were Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji.

The lady made a rather jittery host, running around attending to the guests more than they needed to be. Laughed the friend, “Priyanka had never in her life hosted a party before. She wanted to do it just right. It was okay if she over-did the hospitality as long as she didn’t lack in her role as a hostess. The Mediterranean food was ordered from Aurus and was quite a hit with the selected invitees.”

Sussane Roshan who has done the interior design of the house, we hear, couldn’t help but look around with much admiration, while husband Hrithik beamed on proudly. Clearly, the problems between this couple have been ironed out.

Neighbour and beau Shahid Kapur walked in too, but with choreographer Ahmed Khan. The two burnt the dance floor soon enough. At one point, Priyanka and Gerard took to the dance floor as well, a choreographic chemistry that was noted by guests present. And yes, he did propose to her one more time here as well.

While the party at Priyanka’s residence was on in full swing, neighbours were not too amused with the bagpiping-loud decibel levels. As a result, one of Priyanka’s neighbours lodged a complaint with the police that the party was too loud.

Versova police station’s Senior Inspector S J Nalavade confirmed and said, “We also imposed a charge of Rs 5,000 on Raja Mohammed Bashir, who was in charge of the music at the party.”

A guest who attended the party said, “The police came around 1.30 am and asked the blaring music to be lowered. Priyanka had to obey the orders.”

In an interview to a news agency, a common friend said, "They (Priyanka-Shahid) keep writing on each other`s walls, commenting on each other`s status messages and poking each other.

Priyanka`s relationship status was in an invisible mode when she was with Harman, but after the break- up, she`s listed as single. Shahid too is listed as single on his profile."

"Shahid is called Sha-Sha by his close friends, but Priyanka calls him Shaks. In fact, she has addressed him as Shaks in most of her messages and he calls her Peefee,” adds the friend.

On 26/11 when terrorist attacked Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur were shooting at Marine Drive for Vishal Bharadwaj’s movie Kaminay. They were unaware about the turmoil in the city but when cops arrived on their set and asked them to pack up, they came to know about the tragic conditions. On their way to their homes, they learnt that terrorist attacked Juhu also. With no where to go, they called King Khan and spend the night at Mannat.


Sources say, "Shahid and Priyanka were shooting at Marine Drive for Kaminay with Vishal Bharadwaj when the attacks took place. The cops came and asked the unit to pack up as there was chaos everywhere. They left the shoot and headed home. On the way they got the news that another five star hotel at Juhu had been targeted. They didn’t know what to do and that’s when they spoke to Shah Rukh and landed up at Mannat. SRK welcomed them with open arms and they spent the night there and left in the morning when things were back to normal and they learnt that the attack on the Juhu hotel was a rumor."

Shahrukh and Gauri welcomed their uninvited guests full-heartedly and took care of their comfort. Priyanka confirmed the story and said, "We stayed at Mannat that night. Shahrukh and Gauri would not allow us to leave till the next morning."

But Priyanka Chopra did it with aplomb in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion!

The former Miss World has five super hot looks in the film. Excitedly, she told BT, “I’m a girl from Chandigarh who comes to Mumbai and becomes a model. Then, I become a super model; and, later on, I play a character who faces a lot of problems. Finally comes my last look. They are all distinct but merge into each other. At no point will the audience say — ‘Oh God! What has happened to her?’”

Rita Dhody, who styled Priyanka, considered fashion trends at least three seasons ahead when working. “Instead of designing five looks for one character who goes through different phases in life, I designed Priyanka into five different characters. She stands out beautifully in each,” revealed Rita.

Disagreements between the actress and stylist were natural. Priyanka admitted, “Rita would say — ‘I want you to wear this.’ And I would sometimes refuse. Eventually, she’d convince me saying, ‘Your character demands you to be like this.’”

Madhur, meanwhile, is hoping that former beauty queen, in her five show-stopping avtaars, will be paisa vasool for the audience. You cannot get more of Priyanka Chopra than this for the price of one ticket!

Have you heard of the music band from New Jersey called Son of a Bitch?

Well, the members of the band were flown down to Mumbai to sing for Oopcha, to be shot on Priyanka Chopra in her soon-to-be-released movie with Abhishek Bachchan.

These band of boys can not only sing, but also dance! And, our little Chopra girl had to wear hot pants and ooze that sexuality! A little apprehensive, the actor was requesting director Goldie Behl to change her costume, as she wasn’t too comfortable ‘under-dressing’ with so many males around her.

But then, she learnt that most men dancing around her were gays, and all apprehensions disappeared just like that!

MUMBAI: The city police on Tuesday arrested actor Priyanka Chopra’s former business manager Prakash Jaju, accused of threatening and sending lewd messages to the film star, from Mhow in Madhya Pradesh.

Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Deven Bharti confirmed Jaju’s arrest. “Jaju will be brought to Mumbai on Wednesday morning and we will subsequently produce him before the metropolitan magistrate’s court at Esplanade.’’
Jaju was on the run after a sessions court rejected his anticipatory bail in 2006. Priyanka’s father Ashok Chopra had filed a complaint with the police after the accused sent threatening messages to both him and his daughter. A Mumbai police team, which went to MP in June 2006 to locate Jaju, returned empty-handed.

Jaju had filed a counter complaint with the Indore police, alleging that he had received threat calls. He even claimed that Priyanka and her father owed him Rs 1 crore.

Chopra had dismissed Jaju from the job in 2004 after which the latter allegedly started sending her lewd messages and demanding money.

Actress Priyanka Chopra is sporting quite a few bruises after she and Shahid Kapur fell off a bike while shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's film Kaminay.

The accident took place in Pune while a scene that required Priyanka to ride a bike with Shahid on the back seat was being shot. The two were riding the bike on a slope that was slightly muddy when the two-wheeler skidded and the two fell off. And to make matter worse, the bike fell on top of them.

"By god's grace, I am fine and so is Shahid, except for a few cuts and bruises. I think the only thing that is seriously damaged is my ego, otherwise I am alive and kicking," Priyanka was quoted as saying in a press statement

Yes. I think I was lucky, and I am glad and thankful to Kareena that she left the movie. She did sign the film but left it later citing dates problems.

Some people say it is a remake of Hollywood movie Back To the Future.
No, it’s a different concept altogether.

You bond quite well with your co-star both on and off-screen. How was it working with Harman?
It was great. Although he is a newcomer, his acting skills are remarkable. I really enjoyed working with him. He is a very good person too. Sometimes he is funny and sometimes he is very naughty. I hope to work with him again.
Harman is a very good dancer. Did you find it difficult to match steps with him?
Yes, he is really a very good dancer. He gave me a complex. Come to think of it, he is a newcomer and yet he dances better than me.

Harman is often compared with Hrithik Roshan. Comment?
I think every newcomer is compared with some other actor. And comparing Harman with Hrithik is like an honour for him. Besides, he has got the same response which Hrithik got after KNPH (Kaho Na Pyar Hai).

There was one more rumour that Harman has gifted you a ring?
No, he has not gifted me any ring.

You are very choosy about your roles, but you haven’t signed any movie with Yash Raj banner yet. Why?
Some people say that I am choosy but it's not like that. I love to do different roles which are exciting and challenging. I want to do something which no one else can do. But yes, at the same time, it depends upon the director, producer and the character that I am going to play. And about Yash Raj banner, I really want to work with them but I haven’t received any offer from their side yet.
What’s next in your kitty?
I am working on five films right now. These include Rumi Jaffrey’s God Tussi Great Ho, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, Goldie Behl’s Drona, Karan Johar's Dostana and Kabir Kaushik's Chamku. My schedule is absolutely packed for the rest of the year.

It is going to be Priyanka all the way this summer.

Missing from the scene since Salaam-e-Ishq released, Priyanka now seems to be everywhere. She has three films releasing in the space of three weeks—Love Story 2050, God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku.

While July 4 has been confirmed for Love Story 2050, producers Afzal Khan and Dharmendra are eyeing July 11 and July 18 for the arrival of God Tussi Great Ho and Chamku respectively. Priyanka has an interesting set of co-stars as well in the three films, with Harman Baweja, Salman Khan and Bobby Deol vying for her attention.

However, an industry insider said, "One wonders if Priyanka herself would be happy with three of her films arriving in such quick succession. Not only will it be too much happening simultaneously in her career, she will also have to work extensively on the promotions of three films simultaneously."

He adds, "Moreover, she won’t even have time to catch her breath. Barely a month after her third release, she will be seen paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan in yet another high profile film, Drona. [The Goldie Behl fantasy is set for an August 15 release.]”

And what happens to Dostana and Fashion in the meantime?

"The poor girl doesn't seem to be sighting a break,” said the industry insider. “She has just returned from the Miami shoot of Karan Johar's Dostana and will be returning to the sets of Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. Both films are aiming at a release before the year ends."

‘The truth about Priyanka?’

Tall, lean and togged in a cool white shirt and jeans, at first glance he looks like any other good-looking youngster. It is his smile, the unruly mop of raven hair and twinkling eyes that make Harman Baweja extraordinary. Tell him that he has a startling resemblance to Hrithik Roshan, and the newbie smiles mischievously, “I have been looking at myself for 27 years, my mirror doesn’t say so. But the comparison does not affect me, except that it sets off expectations which are not fair.”

Frustrated efforts
Both his debut film, Love Story 2050, and his romance with the leading lady, Priyanka Chopra, have been making news for almost two years. Only the actor has been kept hidden. “I had a good laugh when I was linked with Deepika Padukone and wondered where it came from. Otherwise all these link-ups are unfair because I want people to talk about my work. What hurt the most was when Kareena Kapoor walked out of the film. We were at our wit’s end and unsure about who would play the leading lady, and a paper said ‘Hope Love Story 2050 releases before 2050’. At other times, it was frustrating not being able to put across the real me,” says the seemingly easy-going gent.

Love matters
So is it true that Priyanka stepped in because she was his girlfriend? “Priyanka came on board because she loved the script. About us? Thank goodness you are not asking me to put my hand on the Gita. I know there have been speculations about us being together but if there is something exciting, I’ll talk about it.”

Dad’s gift
And now that the industry’s most ambitious and talked-about project is all set to release, how does it feel? “Nervous at times and excited at other times. I guess the real jitters set in a day before the premiere,” he laughs. The movie is a Rs 50 crore sci-fi romance with mind-boggling special effects and specially-assembled animatronix robots, and Harman gets a tad bit emotional when questioned about the extravagant project. “Never before has a sci-fi film with such special effects been combined with a deep story. Love Story 2050 will definitely take Hindi cinema to another level. How many sons in the world have got such a huge gift from their fathers?” Pa Harry Baweja’s last few films, Deewane, Teesri Aankh and Main Aisa Hi Hoon, have put him on a weak wicket. “Yes, we are coming after a huge dip, and the challenge to prove ourselves is more. But we are convinced,” says the son. Flying start Harman had other dreams before he settled to become an actor.

“I wanted to be a pilot, but soon abandoned the idea in favour of thehospitality sector. I went to Switzerland to study hotel management, but dropped out to act,” says the actor, who later joined the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, New York, and returned to assist his father on Deewane and Main Aisa Hi Hoon.

What’s more?
Even before his first film is released, Harman is being offered 20 scripts a day. “In Ajit Pal’s Victory, I play a cricketerand it’s one of the most expensive sports films to be made. As for Anees Bazmee’s project with Genelia D’Souza, it is a remake of a major southern blockbuster.”
