Earlier there were reports that the wedding would take place on Amrita’s mother Joyce’s birthday on March 2.
Although Amrita is not divulging any details about her big day, a source close to the family revealed that the wedding is expected to be a three-day grand affair and the celebrations will start on March 4.
We hear that Amrita wanted to get married in Goa but the couple finally decided to have a Mumbai wedding instead. Our source said, “Amrita and Shakeel will get married on March 6 and it will be a grand affair. A traditional mehendi ceremony will take place on March 4, followed by a sangeet ceremony on March 5 and a church wedding on March 6. Amrita wanted to get married in a church and Shakeel has been quite supportive of her decision. However, the church where they will get married is yet to be finalised.”
Busy with the wedding preparations, Amrita’s sister Malaika Arora Khan was spotted at a designer’s boutique last week. Malaika has already finalised her outfit. However, Amrita is yet to finalise a designer for her trousseau. “Amrita has many designer friends. She is just undecided about whom she should ask to design her wedding gown,” added the source.
While Amrita’s wedding gown is far from ready, she has completed shopping for her jewellery from a popular store in Bandra.
The entire shopping was done by Amrita’s sister Malaika and mother Joyce. Amrita has also hired a wedding planner, who is painstakingly planning all the details of the wedding.

Amrita Rao: Script is the hero in VICTORY
After her successful WELCOME TO SAJJAPUR last year, Amrita Rao is kick starting 2009 with VICTORY. Considering the fact that she is quite choosy in picking up projects, what prompted her to say yes to VICTORY? After all, it is meant to be centered on this young boy (Harman Baweja) who goes on to be a super-cricketer, so did she really see some meat in the part that she plays?
'When I heard the narration of VICTORY, I sensed it right away that script was the hero of the film. The screenplay is just superb here. Also, every character's role is well attached to VICTORY that has a great storyline. I play the part of Nandini, who is Vijay's [Harman] best childhood buddy', says the pretty young lady.
So how does her character add to the film?
'What I liked about my role is that she is a very strong person. She is very balanced and isn't starry eyed about success. Even though Vijay goes on to be a superstar, she remains rooted to ground. There are quite a few intrinsic qualities about her that play on in a subtle way on screen', she says.
Still, is she convinced about the fact that she isn't in the film just because every Hindi film needs a leading lady?
'I am absolutely convinced, otherwise I wouldn't have signed the film', she smiles, 'If I had to be in any film for that matter just because I had to play a heroine then there are so many options available all around me. Nandini is very much there for a reason and she does eventually make a difference to the plot.'

Amrita Rao becomes an alien due to Milap!
It appears that the year 2009 will be a real important one for Amrita Rao, the girl next door who won innumerable hearts with VIVAAH. Last year saw her as a simple village girl in Shyam Benegal's WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR and once again she got a lot of praise!
This year Amrita has three films up her sleeves, HOOK YA CROOK, VICTORY and SHORTCUT- THE CON IS ON. But there is one film that Amrita is very excited about and that is the Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja production, JAANE KAHAAN SE AAYI HAI. The film is being directed by Milap Zaveri, the famous writer of hit films like MASTI, HEYY BABYY etc. And believe it or not, Amrita Rao plays an alien from outer space in the film. Since she is portraying an alien, a conscious effort has been made to make her look specially suited for the character and even her body language would be different here. She is Ruslan Mumtaz's girlfriend who plays a young superstar in the film.
The buzz doing the round is that Amrita is doing a guest appearance in the film. Amrita has agreed to do JAANE KAHAAN SE AAYI HAI because of her friendship with the director, Milap Zaveri and her character will be kept as a surprise package. Amrita Rao has been going slow but steady in her career that started six years back. Last two years have been good too with VIVAH in 2006 and WELCOME TO SAJJANPUR in 2007. But doesn't she sometimes feel like getting a little more aggressive. Even though she had ISHQ VISHK, MASTI and MAIN HOON NAA to boost her career, isn't she too picky about her projects?
Replies Amrita with the trademark laugh of hers, 'Well, I certainly want to prove the adage of slow and steady winning the race. Yes, I have been choosy about my projects because I don't want to regret later about picking up something for which I didn't have my heart in. I am just very contended with the fact that I am getting different opportunities every year.'

Amrita’s ‘script’-tease!
Firstly, there is no spelling error in this headline (uh, huh!). And there’s no ‘strip’-show coming up here. Yeah sure, Ms Amrita Rao is turning into one sexy thing (with her short dresses, skimpy skirts, and just the right bit of skin-show) — aren’t we glad to see those long tees and kurtis; that covered everything they shouldn’t have; thrown out of her wardrobe? But the gal ain’t ready for smooches and swimsuits just yet. So let’s focus on other parts, uh-oh, we mean serious stuff, like scripts, alright?
(Geez! Talk about one-track minds). Amrita was telling us about her fascination for scripts. Not just her movie scripts, but any movie script. “I have a very good ear for scripts. I love reading scripts of all kinds of movies and I must say that I’ve a good sense of judgment too. I tell my friends to bounce scripts off me before signing on projects. I have become like a script doc.” Well, she’s looking so hot nowadays that she’s nothing short of ‘script-tease’, really. Though we wish she’d used her creative antenna for her own, My Name is Anthony Gonsalves, she would’ve saved herself a lot of trouble, no? But everyone is entitled to a few slip-ups, dearie, so we’ll let it rest at that.

Amrita Rao goes three shades darker
Amrita Rao takes her roles very seriously.
So, when the actress was required to play the character of Kamla — a simple village potterwoman — in her forthcoming film, Shyam Benegal’s Welcome to Sajjanpur, Amrita not only learnt pottery to get under her character’s skin, but also got a new complexion for her skin, albeit a much darker one.
“Yes, in Welcome to Sajjanpur, I will be seen looking much darker than I really am, almost three shades darker than my original complexion,” Amrita told BT. “Being a potter, my character needed to have a very sun-tanned look. So, although my make-up is minimalistic, I have donned make-up to look dusky,” added the fair maiden of Bollywood. In fact, Benegal, known to be a stickler for authenticity, personally supervised Amrita’s make-up.
And that’s not all, Amrita was even required to practise pottery in the clothes she wears in the movie to give the clothes a used look. “We wanted the clothes to have a used feel and also I wanted to look comfortable and at ease in them, considering we’re not really used to wearing a ghagra-choli everyday. So I would practise pottery in them everyday and they were washed several times before the shooting. The whole process of getting into this character has been very challenging and interesting. I’ve had to learn pottery, learn a new language and get comfortable in moving around in a ghagra,” said Amrita, admitting to being really excited about playing a dusky village belle for the first time.
From the feisty Sanjana in Main Hoon Na to the demure bride-to-be Poonam in Vivaah and from the hottie in Shortkut to a dusky village belle, Amrita sure knows to pack in a surprise in each film.

The hot gossip doing the rounds about actress Amrita Rao is about her engagement with her long-time lover from the south.
Amrita, who likes to keep low profile, was last linked with Goher of Pakistani band Jal - but the hype and gossip settled in no time.
Now the latest on her is that she is all set to tie the knot soon with her boyfriend, who is based in the south.

Amrita Rao : Amrita Rao...in the hot-spot
Amrita Rao was discovered in a talent hunt which was run by Tips (also an artiste management agency). After having been featured in some commercials, she made her debut in Raj Kanwar's 'Ab Ke Baras' opposite newcomer Arya Babbar. The film bombed but Tips was there to salvage her career.
She played Ajay Devgan's fiancée in 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh', directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi. Despite a small role, her performance (and the film) won accolades. Her first real break though came in 'Ishq Vishk', directed by Ken Ghosh, opposite newcomer Shahid Kapoor. The film did reasonably well and brought both Amrita and Shahid into the limelight.
Amrita's fourth film was Indra Kumar's 'Masti', in which she was paired opposite Vivek Oberoi. The film was panned and Amrita (or for that matter, any of the girls) didn't have a decent role to talk about. Her next big release (and the most recent one) was Shah Rukh Khan's home-production, 'Main Hoon Na', in which Zayed Khan was her co-star. Sadly, Amrita's listless screen presence in the film shocked many. Nevertheless, it has enhanced her visibility and has thrown her into the league of promising actresses. Her next release is Gaurang Doshi's 'Deewar-Let's Bring Our Heroes Home' opposite Akshaye Khanna, directed by Milan Luthria.
Amrita is a simple middle-class Maharashtran girl with no link-ups or scandals in her tenure so far in the industry. Whether her career will move ahead swiftly or not is entirely dependent on the fate of 'Deewar' and her performance in it.
