Nowadays when actresses are getting into the skimpiest of bikinis to enhance that oomph to their on and off screen image there is one actress who begs to be different. She is none other than Dia Mirza. Dia is all set to change her sweet girl image but instead of a bikini she has chose the path less traveled.
Dia is gearing up to surprise her fans by getting into the garb of an action girl.
“I think sensuality can go beyond just revealing your body. I have no plans like that,” said Dia who plays a gangster in Acid Factory and also adorns a tough look for the film.
“I had to look a tough girl who can kick some butts. I remember that when I first went to Sanjay (Gupta) and told him that I want to play that role in ‘Acid Factory’ he refused as he never thought that I could ever play an action girl. I had a totally different role in ‘Alibaug’. I decided to prove him wrong; I went through a horribly painful training which gave me amazing result,” reveals Dia.
She sports a tough look that has been designed by Shantanu Nikhil. She said, “My clothes have been designed by Shantanu Nikhil. Their designs are very structured and tough yet very feminine. They have designed some stunning outfits for me.”
Speaking more about her character she said, “The first thing I needed to understand about Max was that she is a gangster. She is a bad girl but she is not sluty or sleazy. She is very classy and feminine. She will take rubbish from no one. I was surrounded by six men and I needed to look equally though. When I stood with them I had to look like I can save myself in any bad situation. So I needed to tone my body a lot,” she signs off.

Dia Mirza's ready to kick butt
Mumbai: Dia Mirza has undergone some rigorous training for her forthcoming film Acid Factory.
The actor has sweated it out very hard for around 40 days to build biceps and strengthen muscles. She also took the help of action-director Tinu Verma to prepare for the film.
"I went through hell. It felt like I was back in school as I used to wake up at 5.30 in the morning. I went through around three months of training like this with 40 days of intensive work-out to strengthen my body. The role needed someone who could do some really strenuous action stunts and kick some butt and I had to build my body accordingly to take all that," Dia says.
She adds: "I trained really hard with Arbaaz Khan's trainer Rakesh in Chandigarh and then also with Tinu Verma with whom I worked out for around two hour everyday at Film City. From there when I came back, I used to train for another two hours at home. Again in the evening I worked out for two hours more. This schedule had to be followed for three months. But I am really happy with the outcome as it's looking very good."
Dia adds that it was the desire to land the role in Sanjay Gupta's film that pushed her to her limits.
"When Sanjay casually narrated me the script, I was blown away. I really wanted to do it but how could I have asked him as he never mentioned my name then. I started training hard for the role as I had an idea what he was looking for. I had time at my hand as Sanjay was not casting then. I knew I was a little unconventional for the part of a negative character but that was my challenge. After the effects were evidently showing post training, I met Sanjay and he was really excited. I went through a screen test and I bagged the role finally," she says, laughing.

A hobby recommended to her by the sexy Lara Dutta! “Horse riding has actually been a childhood hobby. But I didn’t know where I could pursue something like this in Mumbai until Lara mentioned it to me one day.
It’s a beautiful way to start the day, you know,” she tells us, “I never knew that such a large place existed in the heart of the city. Dia Mirza has the Look!
Dia Mirza's sexy new look developed by image consultants Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra for The Acid Factory has become a popular download and is helping to boost her career as she works hard to regain her position in Bollywood.
The former Miss Asia Pacific who is half-German – real-name Dia Mirza Handrich – briefly studied Film in New York before joining the film industry. The hard-working actress has appeared in movies such as Blackmail, Parineeta, Dus, Fight Club – Members Only, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Dus Kahaniyaan, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Krazzy 4.
Despite putting in competent performances in all her films, Dia has yet to find the golden touch – but she is unworried by this: "I haven't had many successful films in my career," she says, "Luckily, however, there has been a big change in the film industry in terms of the kind of films being made now. So you will see more of me in the near future … I'm doing the kind of films I want. Whatever I'm doing is satisfying me."

Diya Mirza is satisfied with her career
New Delhi (UNI) She made a splash with her very first big screen appearance in Vashu Bhagnani's Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein with her ''pristine beauty'' and graceful screen presence endearing her to cine goers across the country. However, nearly seven years after Rehna Hai Tere Dil Main, Diya Mirza's career in Bollywood has failed to scale the heights attained by her contemporaries like Lara Dutta and even those like Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and Katrina Kaif, who made their Bollywood debut after her.
The amount of media limelight coming the way of Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and Katrina Kaif may have eluded her but Diya Mirza is content with the work coming her way. ''I'm doing the kind of films I want. Whatever I'm doing is satisfying me,'' Diya says. Talking to us during a visit to the Capital, she admitted that her career in Bollywood had not progressed the way that of many of her contemporaries had.
''I haven't had many successful films in my career. Luckily, however, there has been a big change in the film industry in terms of the kind of films being made now. So you will see more of me in the near future,'' Diya said. In fact, after a long hiatus since Shootout at Lokhandwala, Diya will be seen in several cinematic ventures in the coming months.
''I'm doing five films right now - Acid Factory which is an action movie about six boys, Kaun Bola - a romantic comedy starring Arshad Warsi, Kisan which is about farmer suicides, a film with Amitabh Bachchan titled Johny Mastana and Alibaug with Sanjay Dutt,'' she said.
When asked which of these five films she was looking forward to the most, she replied, ''All of them. See, this is not a diplomatic response. All the characters being played by me in these films are separate and the story lines are very diverse. 'Acid Factory' is a high fashion action movie. Johny Mastana is a slice of life itself, depicting how far can you go for the one you love.
Kisan is a UTV Production. Kaun Bola is with a supreme powerhouse of talent - Arshad Warsi. It has the meatiest role ever played by me.'' Of all her rols, however, Diya is particularly excited about her character in Kaun Bola, which is Arshad Warsi"s home production venture. ''The character I play in Kaun Bola was really exciting because she's probably the most realistic character in a film from commercial cinema. She is so many things altogether - she's a child, a woman - which makes a woman what she is,'' Diya said.
The former beauty queen has had really fond experiences of working in Kaun Bola. ''I had a lot of fun working in Kaun Bola. It was light, emotional. Most importantly, it's valid, when you see the film you will feel that you can be a part of what's happening on the screen. Arshad himself has written the screenplay and the dialogues of the film. In fact, a lot of him as a person is evident in the film,'' Diya said.
Despite being a natural beauty herself, Diya doesn't believe in traditional concept of beauty. ''Beauty is something undefined. You can't ever define beauty truly, certainly not such as diamonds are forever. To me, where there is tranquility, serenity, that's beauty. As far as inner beauty is concerned, I stopped using that line eight years ago after winning the Asia-Pacific beauty pageant in 2000,'' the actor said.
