Mallika Sherawat to romance Avatar star

Mallika Sherawat has been cast opposite Avatar actor Laz Alonso in Love Barack, a political romantic comedy set during the frantic days leading up to 2008 US Presidential election.

Doug McHenry will direct the film, while Los Angeles Times contributing writer Gary Goldstein will pen the script.

Mallika will play the central character Aretha Gupta, a devoted, Obama volunteer coordinator. The story follows the romantic and political rollercoaster that develops when, the month before Election Day, Democrat Aretha unexpectedly falls for her Republican counterpart (Alonso), a handsome, dynamic African-American working for the local McCain office.

The film also stars veteran actress Ruby Dee, comedy veteran Gerry Bednob and Loretta Devine.

Mallika's brother stops her bikini shoot

Mallika Sherawat gets a taste of the overly protective brotherly love. This happened recently while shooting the climax of her forthcoming film Hissss at Madh Island.

The actress had to sport a skin-coloured bikini to which Mallika's brother Vikram Lamba, who is one of the producers of Hissss objected. He barged onto the set and forcefully stopped the shooting.

The shot, which was being shot had naked body double positioned directly behind her. The plan was to take close-ups of the star and full body shots of the double. Mallika was to be filmed on a tree, leaning on a branch. But suddenly, Vikram said, "My sister will not wear such a short, blasphemous bikini," a website has reported.

The crew and co-producer Govind Menonwere were taken aback by Vikram's attitude. Reports suggest that Menonwere tried to explain to Vikram but he did not budge.

Oops! Mallika does it again

Does Mallika Sherawat never learn? Two years back, the sultry actress performed at a New Year’s eve bash wearing a skimpy outfit that caused a huge controversy, with even an obscenity case slapped against her.

On Sunday, she seemed to have gone a step further while performing at a function in Mumbai to felicitate cricket stars. Scantily clad in a white and silver outfit reminiscent of Helen’s yesteryear cabaret dances, Mallika grooved suggestively and left little to imagination.

Despite the earlier case still pending in the court, an undeterred Sherawat boasted about her performance even before she stepped on stage. “Two factors that affect the Indian psyche — cricket n... hottie Mallika,” she wrote on Twitter. Soon after the function, the actress posted a link to the backstage picture on the same site.

Mallika Sherawat to visit Twitter Headquarters in San Francisco

Mallika Sherawat is the first Indian star to be invited to visit Twitter headquarters in San Francisco, California.

The sexy siren has a popular Bollywood presence on Twitter via her page '@MallikaLA'. Apparently she is one of the most 'followed' Bollywood celebrities on Twitter with more than 2500 fans keen on knowing what the sexy actress is up to.

Mallika will be visiting the Twitter headquarters on July 14 where she'll greet her fans, tour the Twitter office and give talk to Twitter employees during their lunch break. Mallika has been using Twitter to keep in touch with fans and document her experiences in Hollywood.

Sherawat, who since arriving in Hollywood has been in the spotlight regularly. First H'wood celebrity friends and then a Hollywood milkshake named after her. "One of the hard things about spending time in the US was being so far away from my fans in India," she said. By tweeting her experiences in the States, Mallika says she "hopes to also further the connection between Hollywood and Bollywood."

The actress has been regularly posting messages on her experiences in Hollywood, along with tips to men on how to impress women! "It can be fun, and can connect people. And when people are connected, amazing things can happen," she quips.

Sherawat's upcoming film Hissss directed by renowned Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch and co-starring Irrfan Khan is currently in post-production stage and is the first Bollywood film to be represented by a major Hollywood agency (William Morris Endeavor).

In October, Sherawat will begin production on a new film in which she will be playing a character inspired by San Francisco Attorney General - Kamala Harris.

Mallika Sherawat : No buddhaas for Mallika Sherawat!

Love her or hate her but you can’t ignore her. Reportedly, none of the mentors of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa wanted to interact with Mallika Sherawat when she was invited as a guest on the show for the promotion of her new film Ugly Aur Pagli.

A unit member from the sets of the show said, “None of the mentors – Himesh Reshammiya, Pritam, Shankar and Aadesh Srivastava – wanted to sit with Mallika. They couldn’t ask her to sit next to Asha Bhosle who is the mahaguru in the show. Eventually, they had to make the feisty actress sit with the participants. While all the mentors chose to behave formally with her, Himesh Reshammiya passed a lot of comments against the actress.”

But Mallika Sherawat being her in-your-face self, walked to the sets and the first thing she told Himesh was, ‘Should I expose you in front of the people?’

According to our source, Himesh looked nervous and was silent for some time after Mallika’s comment. The two have worked together in the song Mehbooba in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. But Himesh eventually took revenge by stopping a participant of his gharana from singing one of Mallika Sherawat’s songs. The insider said, “But Sukhvinder refused to listen to Himesh and sang the song. Sukhvinder also told Mallika, ‘My parents were against my singing Bheege Honth Tere. Now, after meeting you I know why they did not want me to sing the song.’ Mallika burst out laughing.”

According to the insider, Mallika had also given hair bands to some participants, which she has used in the film. Some of the participants were even made to wear the hair accessory but whenever they went to sing on the stage, Asha Bhosle told them, ‘Hair band nikaal ke gao’.

While the insider from the show said that the mentors had a problem with Mallika, our source from the channel had another story to tell. “Mallika had called the channel and informed them well in advance that she won’t be sitting with the mentors and said that she was not keen on sitting with the ‘buddhaas’.” To add to the entertainment, Mallika even carried a horn to the sets.

“In fact, she came with a horn and asked where she could sit. Then she herself said that she would sit with the audience,” adds the source. According to the channel source, Mallika had a lot of fun on the sets and kept teasing the contestants.

Mallika Sherawat's Army

An army of 100 bodyguards were on hand to defend Mallika Sherawat, Bollywood's red hot superbabe, on the set of Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam. The whole production came to a standstill when thousands of fans flocked onto the set to catch a glimpse of their idol.

Producer Ratan Jain said, "Yes, the situation had become slightly desperate and before it could get out of hand, I made arrangements for 100 security men. Mallika is the lead actress of my film. She is my responsibility and it was my duty to see that there she was safe as her producer."

This is Mallika's second movie with Rahul Bose after Pyaar Ke Side Effects. The two stars are said to get on very well together.

Mallika, who received a Best Actress nomination for her role in Murder is perhaps best known internationally for her eye-catching performance in the Chinese movie, The Myth alongside Jackie Chan. She also recently played the role of Jasmine in the Kollywood film Dasavatharam, where Jackie was a guest. How did she feel about working with the Great Chan? "To be up there with the best isn't something that falls into everyone's lap," she says, "So, I felt both proud as well as grateful that the moment had come my way!"

Chennai, May 05: Actress Mallika Sherawat has received a notice from Chennai police in lieu of a complaint lodged by the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), one of the Hindu religious outfits of the state, for her provocative dressing style at the audio launch of Dasavatharam.

The Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) that has been acting as Tamil Nadu’s moral police had filed a complaint against the actress with the Periyamet police station in Chennai.

The complaint that was filed by HMK activist S R Kaniraj saying that Mallika had 'hurt the sentiments of the people of Tamil Nadu by wearing a revealing mini skirt, exposing her back and sitting cross legged in front of the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. The HMK now wants the police to take action against Mallika.

The activists had also condemned the actress for her behaviour at the Dasavatharam stage. She has hugged and even kissed Jackie Chan on the stage in front of The CM and other guests.

After viewing the petition, the inspector of Periyamet Police station Ashok Kumar had a brief discussion with the legal experts and later decided to send a legal notice to the actress to seek her explanation for her dressing sense.

Life convict planned to kill Mallika !

NEW DELHI: A life convict who was wanted in several cases of attempt to murder, kidnapping and assault on police officers and had escaped from police custody has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police.

The accused claimed before media persons that he wanted to kill Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat "for her remarks against the Jat community". But the police dismissed the claim as a desperate attempt to garner sympathy of that particular community.

A Crime Branch team had been pursuing various leads about the accused, Rajesh Dalal, for the past couple of months.

Rajesh, who was convicted in a kidnapping case and had managed to escape from police custody in another case from the Tis Hazari courts' lock-up on August 8, 2005, was wanted in many cases. A cash reward of Rs. 25,000 had been declared for his arrest.The team traced Rajesh in a small hamlet of Jaisinghpur at Sangli -- about 40 km from Kolhapur in Maharashtra -- where he was arrested this past Sunday.

The police produced him at Sangli court and brought Rajesh to Delhi on transit remand.On Wednesday, when he was produced before the media, Rajesh claimed that he had gone to Mumbai to gather information about the movements of Mallika as he wanted to kill her.

"She had virtually abused the Jat Community by giving interviews that people in Haryana were less educated and maltreated their girls. I just wanted to shoot her," he said.
