Bipasha to perform at New Year eve bash

Actress Bipasha Basu and singer Sudesh Bhosle will add glitz to the New Year eve celebrations at the Sahara Star Hotel here, says an official. "Bipasha Basu will perform in our hotel on New Year eve," Vivek Kumar,
CEO of hotel, told IANS. He, however, refused to reveal how much Bipasha was charging for her performance. "She is priceless. We do not attach any price to art, but yes, there are certain commitments that will be
fulfilled," said Kumar, and added that Sudesh Bhonsle would also perform.

Asked about other performers, he said: "We are in very advanced talks with some other celebrities and I think it will be confirmed very soon who else are going to be there." Kumar informed that they have designed
various packages and priced them differently for those who want to enjoy the New Year eve extravaganza.

"There are different packages. The food and beverage package will cost Rs.11,500 per head. There are other packages for those who book a room in the hotel for that night." Bipasha's manager confirmed the news to
IANS, saying: "Yes, it's true (that she is performing)."

Interestingly, the first offer went to Bips' beau John Abraham, who wrangled himself out of the ad due to a commitment with Wrangler. If you recall, John sported Reebok in Goal.

Nevertheless, Yuvi is a worthy replacement being a stylish sports icon for the youth. This blending with Bipasha's style and class makes this campaign one of its kind. Reebok feels that this combination will make a difference. Says a Reebok spokesperson, ''The chemistry between the duo is evident. And the combination looks classy not just in this ad campaign, but the looks for the other sub-brands. We will have the classic, rugby looks among others that will be revealed.''

Bipasha is naturally elated with the Yuvi combination. ''It is fun and Yuvi is a bundle of energy. It feels great working with him,'' she says, adding that the same goes for working with the entire Indian cricket squad.

Talking of the brand, Bipasha has a few things to say. ''The stylish clothes and patterns are amazing. You can call Reebok a confluence of sorts and style. I associate with it as it is the kind of clothing I wear, being a fitness conscious person myself. I am sporty person and these clothes are a part of my life.''

Even being bold has its limits. And for the sultry Bipasha Basu the line seems to be Ranbir Kapoor. The actress who has many steamy seductive scenes to her name starting from Jism to the recent Race, has refused to perform a 'Mrs Robinson' inspired seduction scene with the young actor, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Bachna Ae Haseeno is said to be inspired by The Graduate directed by Mark Nichols and Alfie directed by Charles Shyer. And in both of these films we have had steamy older women seducing younger boys. Bipasha plays Radhika in Bachna... a girl who is bold enough to go that extra mile in passion. She thus was supposed to don the combined hat of Anne Bancroft (The Graduate) and Susan Sarandon (Alfie) and play the sexy seductress.

According to a source, "Bipasha was not told about the scene when she'd signed the film. She thought it was not a part of the original script and there was no real necessity to go ahead with it."

Though the director Siddharth Anand tried to argue with Bips on that one, the actress refused to give in and finally the scene was not shot. Though initially Anand did feel bad, he soon calmed down and brushed aside the issue.

"Both Anand and YRF thought that more family audience will watch the film if the seduction scene was not there", added the source.

Siddharth Anand tried to elude the question when contacted, by simply saying, "There is no such scene in Bachna... It's a family film." And Bips too did not wish to talk about it. She simply said, "Well, I don't wish to clarify or justify anything. If there's a story, which I'd like to talk about, I will do so. But this is not one of those stories."

Looks like the matter has been really hushed down. Well, with or without a seduction scene, we hope the movie does work magic for YRF after the two early disasters this year.

Soha Ali Khan found guilty

Actress Soha Ali Khan was on Thursday held guilty of suppressing facts while seeking renewal of her gun license, and also of allowing misuse of her weapon by her father, former cricketer Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, allegedly in killing a blackbuck.

District Magistrate Rakesh Gupta cancelled her gun license under section 17 of the Arms Act and ordered a further inquiry into the case.

“Soha can file appeal against this order in the divisional commissioner's court within 30 days. The Jhajjar police would also be informed about the decision, with the request not to release Soha's rifle to her,” Gupta said in his judgement.

The rifle, which was allegedly misused by Pataudi in the blackbuck poaching, is at present in the custody of the Jhajjar police.

Gupta said Soha was issued the arms license in November 1996 when she was below the legal age to acquire it. The responsibility could not be fixed because the original file on the issuance of her gun licence is missing.

Replying to a question, Gupta said had the Jhajjar police informed the Gurgaon administration about the seizure of Soha's rifle in the poaching case, the administration would not have renewed her license.

“We would inform the home department about this lapse on the part of the Jhajjar police. But it was the duty of the actress to inform the district administration that her rifle was in police custody at the time of the renewal. The actress knowingly suppressed this fact, hence she is guilty,” the district magistrate added.

The actress has been charged with obtaining an arms license for her .22 bore rifle Nov 5, 1996, when she had not completed 21 years of age—a legal pre-requisite.

The passport record of Soha, daughter of Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore, put her year of birth at 1978, which meant in 1996 she was 18.

The Gurgaon district authorities also sent her a notice demanding an explanation about how the weapon for which she was licensed was used by her father to kill a blackbuck in Haryana's Jhajjar district in 2005. Pataudi was arrested for poaching the protected species animal, and the carcass was seized.

The poaching case, registered June 5, 2005, is being tried in a wildlife and environment court in Faridabad town in Haryana.

Soha Ali's arms licence cancelled

The arms licence issued to film actress Soha Ali Khan, whose rifle was allegedly used by her father and former Indian cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi to kill a blackbuck, was cancelled on Thursday by a court in Gurgaon.

Gurgaon District Magistrate Rakesh Gupta cancelled the licence issued to Soha in November 1996 on the ground that she had not attained the mandatory age of 21 years when Soha applied for the licence.

According to the district officials, Soha was only 18 years old when she sought the licence. Under the Arms Act, a person has to be 21 years to get a weapon licence.

The DM, however, took no action against Soha. The original file relating to the licence has gone missing, the officials said.

They maintained that when she got her licence renewed in 2005, Soha did not make any reference to the weapon being allegedly used by Pataudi to hunt a blackbuck in adjoining Jhajjar district.

The District Magistrate, in his order, said that it was the ''moral duty'' on the part of Soha to have disclosed in whose possession the rifle was.

Soha's counsel V Bhushan Arya told mediapersons that Soha might file an appeal against the District Magistrate's order after getting its copy.

Arya claimed that she did not hide her age while applying for the arms licence in 1996 and while getting it renewed in 2005. It was the duty of the police to have verified such issues, he said.

Bipasha Basu does not seem to believe in skin show just for the heck of it.The sultry actress outshone Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai in sex appeal in Yash Raj thriller Dhoom 2 , in which she wore bikini in a number of scenes.

However, Bipasha says it was the conviction of her producer Aditya Chopra and the requirement of her role that prompted her to slip into the tiny two-piece outfits. In the film, Bipasha plays twin roles, one of a cop and another of a Brazilian girl mostly dressed in bikinis.Bipasha says she was given the choice to wear shorts instead of bikinis in the film. But she chose the latter because she was confident that her stylist Anahita Shroff would design an eye-catching look for her.And now in an interview to a Mumbai-based tabloid, Bipasha has said that she won’t wear the bikini again.“I wouldn't wear a bikini on screen again. Otherwise, where's the freshness in wearing it once? I always believe whatever you do, you should touch and move, not stick on to it,” Bipasha is quoted as saying.Winner of this year’s best actress award at GIFA, Bipasha has been recently practicing football for a role along with boyfriend John Abraham in Vivek Agnihotri’s movie Goal .Bipasha will also be seen in a double role in comedy film Mr. Fraud .
