Forget Kareena and Priyanka : Aishwarya rules Bollywood

aishwarya rai
It seems that Lady fortune is smiling generously at the Bachchan clan – ‘Pa, Bahu and Beta’. While ‘Pa’ Amitabh is busy acknowledging applause for his recent hits like ‘Paa’ and ‘Rann’ and ‘Beta’ Abhishek enthralling the small screen audience, ‘Bahu’ Aishwarya has went on to become the highest paid actress in Bollywood. The green-eyed beauty has received an offer of Rs 10 crores!

The offer has reportedly come from producer Bobby Pushkarna of the critically acclaimed film `Page 3`. Bobby is desperate to sign only Ash and has been pursuing her for three months. The movie is said to be on the lines of Jagmohan Mundra’s ‘Provoked’, which has Aishwarya in the main lead.

Ash has left the current reigning actresses’ quite far behind, with this latest deal in her bouquet. Sources reveal that B-town’s high-princess Kareena Kapoor charges around Rs 7 crores and glam-doll Priyanka Chopra claims Rs 5 crores per film.

The gorgeous actress, who is one of the most well-known Indian faces at the international front, is charging more than most of the heroes as well.

We can only say that, the ‘Bachchan’ family seems to be truly ruling the filmdom!

Ash to dance on Amitabh's Laawaris number

Aishwarya_Rai_bra_panty
If things go to plan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen shaking a leg to one of pa-in-law’s hit numbers Apni to jaise taise, thodi aise ya waise from the 1981 hit Laawaris. Sajid Nadiadwala has bought the rights of the song for a promotional track in his upcoming film Houseful and it should see Ash joining Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal and Ritesh Deshmukh for the new rendition. The film is being directed by Sajid Khan.

“Talks are currently on with Aishwarya and things should get finalised in a couple of days. Both the Sajids - Nadiadwala and Khan - loved the idea of using the song and bought the rights from the music company. Everyone knows it was a chartbuster in its heyday,” says our source.

When contacted Sajid Nadiadwala said, “Yes, we have bought the rights of the song but Aishwarya Rai is not in our version. We can confirm names only when everything is finalised.” On the other hand, director Sajid Khan said, “I will neither confirm nor deny the news. We will be making an announcement at the right time.”

Aishwarya Rai herself remained unavailable for comment.

Aishwarya rules out working with her ex's!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has ruled out working with her ex-boyfriends Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi. Rumours had been spreading that she would be appearing alongside Vivek in Sautish Kashik’s new big budget romance Tansen, but the director denies this. "I’ve been getting so many calls from people asking me whether I have cast Vivek Oberoi in Tansen along with Abhishek and Aishwarya and the answer is no such thing has happened," explianed Kaushik. "I’ve not approached Vivek, Salman Khan or even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the film. I had only mentioned Abhishek’s name saying he is someone who can play the role well as he also has a certain star status and fan following."

Meanwhile, expectations are mounting over the Aish-Rajnikanth movie Endhiran which it is now rumoured has reached a budget of 120cr, making it India’s most expensive movie. The signature item number alone is said to have cost 30cr and Aishwarya’s fee is rumoured to be in the region of 6cr. However, the over-run on the production dates may be costing Aishwarya dearly as it’s making it difficult for her to sign new projects and her absence from the screen since Sarkar Raj may also be damaging her career.

Aishwarya’s other big budget project, Raavan, has also been having some difficulties. Director Mani Ratnam was rushed off to hospital recently with a suspected heart attack and not released for a week. There have also been some disagreements on set with a tiff developing between the South’s leading director and the North’s leading actress. Mani wanted her to shoot a scene without any make-up and Aishwarya was apparently not very happy about it. In addition, there have been problems over shooting scenes in areas designated as natural reserves.

Is Ash a thief?

There’s more to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s role in Pink Panther 2 than the rumoured two minutes of screen space, it seems.

In fact, if the buzz is to be believed, the movie would be incomplete without her role. The actress is apparently playing the main villain in the movie! “She is actually the one who steals the Pink Panther diamond, and in the end, Steve Martin finds out,” says a source close to the unit of the movie.

Aishwarya plays the role of Sonia Solandres, a criminology expert, in the film. She is part of the team of detectives who are trying to find the Pink Panther diamond. But in the end, Inspector Clouseau figures out that Sonia, played by Ash, is the real culprit and no criminology expert. “The climax has a fight scene where Ash even kicks some butt and tries to flee. But eventually, she gets caught and is put behind bars,” says the source.

Aishwarya Rai back with a bang!

Download posters : Bollywood Actress
It is going to be a very busy year for Aishwarya Rai. She not only has Mani Ratnam's gruelling 'Ravan with husband Abhishek Bachchan to complete, she also begins work on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next movie, with Hrithik Roshan, to be shot in Goa.

But before that she goes into filmmaker Vipul Shah's next film with Akshay Kumar in the lead. Both Vipul and Akshay, who are co-producing the film, were very keen to get Aishwarya for what they describe as a genre-breaking drama.

Aishwarya has also signed up Excel Entertainment's untitled thriller to be directed by Abhinay Deo, who is currently busy shooting his directorial debut "Delhi Belly".

For the film, Aishwarya will once again team up with hubby Abhishek.

Confirming the news, Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment said: "It would be a very stylish thriller to be shot entirely in Greece, Thailand, Istanbul and London.

"My director Abhinay Deo and I want a particular look for the film. We're trying to get the DOP (director of photography) of the new Nike international commercial. If not, there's Jason West who shot our 'Rock On!'. He can capture that subtle sleek look which the subject demands. We want the film's visual quality to be something never experienced by our audience."

The film would be Aishwarya's second with Abhishek after 'Ravan'.

Sneha Ullal : ‘I’m still called an Ash look-alike’

Right from the time when the teasers for her debut film, Lucky – No Time For Love hit the screens, Sneha has been called Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s look-alike. The actress, who was in Delhi recently to promote her latest flick, Kash Mere Hote, had people calling her by the same name. After the press conference got over, Sneha decided to leave the venue and started walking towards her car parked at a busy Connaught Place parking lot, passersby said, ‘Oh! She looks like Aishwarya!”

There’s something else as well that’s been irking the actress. She has been suffering from a severe bout of cold. She had to control her coughs to pose for the shutterbugs. But when the actress realised that it wasn’t going to get over soon, she just stood up and refused to give anymore shots!

Is Pink Panther lucky for Aishwarya?

The pink from Aishwarya’s Pink Panther experience seems to be fast disappearing, and if talks are to be believed, not everything is moving smoothly with the international venture.

First it was her miniscule role that was of much concern, and now, the constant postponement of the release- date of the film has people speculating about the degree of confidence in the project.

And as if this wasn’t enough, some Indian numerologists have taken it upon themselves to predict that the movie
isn’t going to be worth its weight in salt since the title doesn’t add up to a favourable number. Let’s wait and watch for that one!

Vikram To team up with Aishwarya

Vikram is very much pleased about his participation in the Hindi film to be directed by Mani Ratnam, which stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan. He says it will be a grand, valuable, and unique experience.

Mani Ratnam is making a film in Hindi and Tamil. In Hindi, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead actors and in Tamil, Vikram and Aishwarya Bachchan play the lead roles. Vikram also plays a prominent role in the Hindi version, the details of which are kept under wraps and which Vikram was not willing to share.

Vikram said he is not just happy, he is very excited to share screen space with two great actors of Bollywood - Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan - in his very first Hindi film. He said this film will make him prominent in Bollywood; he has no dreams of acting in Bollywood films though. He added that his Hindi is excellent, but he does not think he will be able to match either of these actors in dialogue delivery as it is not his mother tongue. But he said that he will definitely work on matching them in dialogue delivery.

Vikram and the Bachchan couple will be starring in the historic project that Mani Ratnam has signed with Anil Ambani's Reliance Big Picture Entertainment for a breathtaking Rs.120 crores. This mega project will be produced simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

Aishwarya Rai dropped from Michael Douglas' film

Originally uploaded by Arab in far east
Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai has reportedly been replaced by the Hollywood stunner Catherine Zeta Jones in a film to be co-produced by Michael Douglas.

Douglas is making an action adventure called Racing the Monsoon on the lines of his 1980s superhit ‘Romancing the Stone’. The Hollywood star visited India last year and agreed to co-produce the film with the Bollywood production house Percept Pictures Company.

Douglas is now back again in India to finalize the shooting locations and to get a glimpse of the monsoon.

Originally, Aishwarya Rai was to play the lead role opposite Douglas in the film.

But now, reports say Ash has been shown the door from the project and Douglas’s wife Catherine Zeta Jones has been roped in for the part.

Catherine had said in a recent interview that she was looking forward to visit India early next year.

“Michael and I are developing a script that will be set in India. We will take our kids and all of us will come there, set up camp in India and shoot a film,” Zeta-Jones had told UK’s Telegraph.

Besides Michael and Catherine, the film would also have Matt Damon in a significant role.

‘Racing the Monsoon’ will be about a diamond robbery on board an Indian train. The film will most likely be directed by Steve Carr.

Abhishek’s death in the climax scares distributors away

Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj releases next month. The film, a sequel to his 2005 release Sarkar, will also be Abhishek and Aishwarya’s first release after their marriage.

A source who attended one of the private screenings reveals that the climax of the film has given distributors cold feet. “In the climax of the film, Abhishek Bachchan is shot dead.

There is a huge build-up to the scene. Abhishek’s character Shankar Nagre who joins his father in politics wants to make changes and create a revolution.

His death is quite unexpected and is bound to give a big jolt to the viewers. Everyone expects one of the supporting characters, who protects Bachchan Jr, to die. But in the end, Abhishek is gunned down.”

The industry is abuzz with rumours that distributors are worried that Abhishek’s death won’t go down too well with the audience. “Abhishek’s death was always a part of the initial script, but the way it’s shot is quite gory. Also, once he dies, the film takes a dark turn and becomes really depressing.”

Sleepless nights

Says a industrywalla, “If Abhishek dies, Sarkar becomes an Amitabh movie. And the last memory of Amitabh and Ramu together is Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, and that’s gives distributors sleepless nights.”

It is believed that Amitabh wanted Sarkar Raj to be the first big release of 2008, but had to change that due to Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, which released early this year.

When contacted, Ramu denied that Abhishek dies at the end, while Bachchan replied, “See the film.”

When Abhishek, Aishwarya first met ?

Sarkar Raj has a lot going for it. It is Ram Gopal Varma's most anticipated film of the year, Abhishek and Aishwarya's first film together post marriage, and reportedly one of Amitabh's best roles ever.

RGV also had a clear idea on what he wanted from each and every scene. Like, for example, the first scene Abhi-Ash shot after marriage—where their screen characters were meeting for the first time.

The director felt that the sense of newness that the couple was feeling in their relationship (as well as the self consciousness) would translate into great chemistry tempered with doubt on screen. And he certainly got what he wanted.

Sarkar Raj is an intense political drama. A study of power, it explores the politics of development and takes a fresh look at the tradition versus modernity debate.

When Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai), CEO of the international company Sheppard Power Plant, brings before the Nagres a power plant proposal for rural Maharashtra, insightful Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) is quick to realise its benefits for the people. After convincing Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan), who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilise support.

However, things are not what they seem and Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield. In this backdrop, evil forces gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.

Sarkar Raj is definitely not a sequel to Sarkar, but a new story with the same characters. Let's hope RGV won't have any reason to go into hiding after this film hits the screens.

Abhishek-Aishwarya to wed in April?

Mumbai, Will they or won't they marry next month? Rumours are rife that Bollywood's hottest couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai will tie the knot on April 19 at the Bachchan residence Prateeksha here.

However, a source close to the family denied an imminent wedding. "It is just a rumour, nothing else. People are saying that the cards are ready and that the date and venue are already decided, but there is no truth in these claims," he said.

Since the two stars got engaged in January, wedding-date rumours have persistently dogged the pair. The Bollywood grapevine had it that they are tying the knot on Feb 19 and when it didn't happen on that day, they put forth March 19.

Abhishek's superstar dad Amitabh Bachchan has said the family is as impatient as others, but haven't been able to finalise a day due to paucity of time.

"We still haven't got a date. The two of them are so busy, we haven't been able to sit down and work it out," Amitabh had said, while denying reports that the wedding was supposed to take place on Feb 19 or March 19.

Abhishek and Aishwarya are busy shooting for "Drona" and "Jodha Akbar", respectively.
